Oracle Buys Sun

Interesting times… excited to see how the middleware and overall Java space, along with the JCP is being shaped.

Speaking of portals (which we were not) – Sun’s portal is the  GlassFish Web Space Server, based on the open source Liferay portal.

  1. Sun had first right of refusal to buy Liferay, Inc, so interesting whether Oracle has taken over that privilege. I think Liferay is a great platform, simple, elegant, and much better than the overly complex WebCenter Interaction. Oracle should take a lesson from Liferay and start developing simpler products that are easier to integrate.
